Are you concerned your child is spending too much time using technology, spending all their time gaming, taking and posting 'selfies' online or glued to their smart phones?  Are you curious regarding their online safety and activity or worried about who they are talking to on social media and in chat rooms? There is growing concern that technology addiction may be a ‘lifelong struggle’ for teenagers due to their continuous use of mobile phones, iPads and other modern devices

With all of the potential that the online world and new technology offers, young people now have access to huge opportunities. They use technology to express themselves, explore and educate themselves, and be creative; it has changed the way they communicate. This can be worrying for parents especially for those that are not 'tech savvy'.

London Counselling and Consultancy provide technology and e-safety workshops for parents. This workshop enables parents to discuss their experiences, views and concerns regarding their children’s use of the internet and which content/images online they may be viewing and accessing. Parents will be given the opportunity to explore what their children are using the internet for; the current trends, risks and benefits associated and how best to support young people online including current legislation, dealing with cyberbullying, social networking, selfies, sexting and their access to online sexual content.

The dangers of the Internet must be known and understood to equip parents and carers with the tools, knowledge, experience and patience to identify and deal with incidents of online child exploitation, inappropriate online behaviour or online bullying.

Participants will leave this interactive workshop with a greater awareness and understanding of their children’s use of the internet and how best to protect them whilst online.
